CLUNY'S GOLDEN WEDDING. Scottish, March or Slow Air (whole time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by fiddler-composer and dancing master biography:J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927) on the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary of Ewan (1804-1885) and Sarah Macpherson, Castle Cluny, on 20th January 1882. Ewan, the grandson of Ewen of Cluny who fought for Bonnie Prince Charlie during the 1745 Jacobite Rising, acceded to the Clan Chattan chieftainship in 1817. He and Sarah Justina married in 1832. Macpherson was an officer in the 42nd Highlanders (The Black Watch), and a Lieut. Col. in the Inverness-shire Highland Rifle Volunteers.
