DUKE OF RIFF'S REEL. AKA and see "Duke of Perth," "Love in a Village." English, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Riff=Perth? The tune appears under this title (along with the alternate title "Love in a Village") in the 19th century Thomas Hardy family music manuscripts of Dorset. However, the tune had many titles in various English musicians' manuscripts, including "Scapden's Cade," "Duke of Perth's Reel," "Lord Rockingham's Reel," "Broom's Reel," "McDonald's Reel," and "Lolly Pops and Bulls Eyes" [Callaghan].
