"The Silver Tip" was the title for the melody on a 1929 Columbia 78 RPM by Francis Cashin and Tom Cawley; Cawley was a fiddler from the Tubbercurry, Doocastle, County Sligo, region who often paired with another fiddler, Francis Cashin. The Ballinakill Ceili Band called it “Maids of Glenroe (The)” on their 1931 recording.
