I am an amateur local history mainly interested in the south-west of Scotland's heritage from the 15th to the 18th centuries. In particular I research land-owning Kennedy families and their associates as well as the language heritage of the Carrick region of south Ayrshire. Currently I am researching music contained in a household book of recipes, poetry, music and song which belonged to Martha Broun of Inverary and dates from the time of her marriage in 1714.

Two tunes in the book are of special interest - "Miss Duncanson's Favorite" and "Ma Duncanson's Reel". Martha was married to Alexander Duncanson of Kiels, near Inverary, Argyllshire, Scotland.
