TIGHT LITTLE ISLAND (THE).English, Air and Jig. England, North‑West. D Major (Raven): G Major (Wade): F Major (Knowles). Standard tuning. AABB (Knowles, Raven): AA'B (Wade). Tune used for a single step dance in the North‑West (England) morris dance tradition. Kidson, inGroves, identifies it as a version of "The Rogue's March" and says “Tight Little Island” was a popular humorous song. As “The Island” it was written by Thomas Dibdin about 1798, and sung by a singer named Davies at Sadler’s Wells in that year.
