CAPTAIN DOUGLAS'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Captain Douglas's Strathspey" was composed by Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay (b. 1773) and was included in his Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes, printed in Glasgow around 1822. Mackay may have named his composition for Captain Douglas of Bowmore, Islay, "late of the Royal Canadian Rifles, and formerly of her Majesty's 16th Regiment"[1].
