SPELL, THE. AKA and see “Love in a Village (1).” Scottish, English; Reel. England, Northumberland. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Gow, Martin): AABB (Bremner). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of tune in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection, but later included in several Scottish and English dance collections. It is one of the "missing tunes" from William Vickers 1770 Northumbrian dance tune manuscript.
