John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of tune in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection, but later included in a few other Scottish dance collections, including those of Niel Gow and Neil Stewart. It is one of the "missing tunes" from William Vickers 1770 Northumbrian dance tune manuscript.
