SONNY MURRAY'S. AKA and see "Charley is Welcome Home," "Delahunty's Hornpipe," “Delahanty's Hornpipe,” "Groves of Slaney (The)," "Home Brew (The)," “Iron Gate (The),” “John Quinn's (1),” “Kerry Hornpipe (1) (The),” "Road to Boyle (The),” "Wicklow Hornpipe.” Irish, Hornpipe (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title honors Clare concertina player Sonny Murray, with whom the hornpipe is associated in modern times although it is a widespread older tune often called “Delahunty's” but which also has a variety of names. "The Home Brew" title is from Frank Quinn (1893-1964), a fiddler from Greagh, Drumlish, Co. Longford, who played this as the first in a set of two tunes that appear together under the title "The Home Brew--Hornpipe" in New York in July, 1925.
