The Napiers were Scottish gentry with several branches of the family, however, one, Captain the Hon. Charles Napier (1730-1807) of Merchistoun Hall, Stirlingshire, R.N., had a daughter by his second marriage to Christian Hamilton, daughter of Gabriel Hamilton and Agnes Dundas. The daughter's name was Henrietta Hope Napier, for whom no dates are readily available.
