MISS NAPIER OF MERCHISTON HALL. Scottish, Jig. D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Biography:Robert Mackintosh (c.1745-1807). There is a Merchiston Hall in Stirlingshire. The Napiers were Scottish gentry with several branches of the family, however, one, Captain the Hon. Charles Napier (1730-1807) of Merchistoun Hall, Stirlingshire, R.N., had a daughter by his second marriage to Christian Hamilton, daughter of Gabriel Hamilton and Agnes Dundas. The daughter's name was Henrietta Hope Napier, for whom no dates are readily available.
