G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in O'Farrell's Pocket Companion for the Irish or Union Pipes (vol. II, c. 1806) as "Cock in the Heath," although as "The Clout" it had earlier been printed in one of the Neale's collections of country dances in Dublin, 1726.
