Irish, Slip Jig (9/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in O'Farrell's Pocket Companion for the Irish or Union Pipes (vol. II, c. 1806) as "Cock in the Heath," although as "The Clout" it had earlier been printed in one of the Neale's collections of country dances in Dublin, 1726. Fr. John Quinn also finds cognate versions as "Cock in the Heather (The)" and "Trip to the Furze."
