GREAT BIG YAM POTATOES. AKA and see "Been to the East Been to the West," "Hell Broke Loose in Georgia." Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Mississippi. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). Not related to the similarly titled "Great Big Taters in Sandy Land." A frequently played and recorded tune in Southern old-time tradition, although known by various titles. Rankin and Stanton (1985) believe this title speaks more to the number of farmers who raised "yam potatoes" in the sandy soil of central Mississippi.
