AUCHMOUNTAIN'S BONNIE GLEN. Scottish, March (cut time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). Composed by Pipe Major John Balloch [1] (1860-1947), who entered the army in 1878 where he served with the 57th Brigade in the African conflicts of the late 19th century. He retired to Greenoch (this tune is named for the surrounding countryside) to run a tobacconist shop. He reenlisted at the age of 54 in the to fight in the Great War where he and his son served in the trenches together.
