CROPPY TAILOR (An Tailiur Bearta). Irish, Air (3/4 time, "gaily"). Ireland, west Cork. A Minor (O'Neill/1915): A Major (O'Neill/1850). Standard tuning (fiddle). One part (O'Neill/1915): AB (O'Neill/1850). This Ulster song tells of the humiliating adventures of a tailor whose domestic relations had been invaded by a dragoon. Another version of the air is the Munster song "White Bread and Butter."

Source for notated version: Chicago Police Sergeant James O'Neill [O'Neill], a fiddler originally from County Down and O'Neill's collaborator on Music of Ireland.
