BLOW THE WINDS I-HO. English, Air (4/4 time). England, Northumberland. D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The song has some antiquity to it, and was issued on broadside sheets. It is said to bear considerable resemblance to "The Baffled Knight; or, Lady's Policy" in Percy's Reliques. The lyrics begin:

There was a shepherd's son, He kept sheep on yonder hill;

He laid his pipe and crook aside, And there he slept his fill.
And blow the winds, I-ho! Sing, blow the winds, I-ho!

Clear away the morning dew, And blow the winds, I-ho!

Prrinted source: Bruce & Stokoe (Northumbrian Minstrelsy), 1882; p. 81.

Recorded source: Fellside Records FECD192, Spiers & Boden - "Tunes" (2005).
