BROWN LEAF RAG. AKA and see "Little Brown Hand." Old-Time, Country Rag. USA, Missouri. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The melody is similar to "Walking in My Sleep [1]" and, indeed, is sometimes called by that name by fiddlers in Missouri and elsewhere [Beisswenger, 2008]. Mark Wilson posits that "Walking in My Sleep" was derived from "Brown Leaf Rag."

Source for notated version: Lonnie Robertson (1908-1982, Springfield, Mo.) [Beisswenger & McCann].

Recorded source: Caney Mountain CEP 213 (extended play, privately issued), Lonnie Robertson (Mo.), 1965-66.
