APPLE BLOSSOM [2]. American, Reel (cut or 2/4 time). D Major. ADae tuning (fiddle). AB (Titon/Bowles): AABB (Phillips, Titon/Monday): AABBB (Bowles). The tune was not widely known outside the northern Tennessee/south-central Kentucky area known as the Cumberland Plateau, but there are several field recordings of fiddlers from the region born in the 19th century playing it. Bruce Greene finds the tune was sometimes sung with banjo accompaniment as "Fished in the Pond" or "Never Catched a Nibble."
