ASHERSTONE SCHOTTISCHE. English, Schottische (2/4 time). G Major ('A' part) & C Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBAA. "Asherstone Scottische" was composed around the year 1851 by J.C. Van Maanen, Master of the Band of the 52nd Regiment, and dedicated to the Right Honorable Countess Howe. The Earl and Countess Howe resided part of the year at Gopsall, Warwickshire, near Atherstone. The Atherstone Hunt Ball took place on the 8th December, 1850, with one of the Lady patronesses being the countess.
