Sheet Music for "The Baltimore Reel"The Baltimore Reel33Book: Breathnach - "Ceol vol. 1 No. 4"Notes: From the repertoire of Dublin fiddler John Kelly

BALTIMORE REEL. AKA - "Baltimore Lady." AKA and see "Ballinamore Reel (2)." Irish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Breathnach obtained the tune as in untitled reel in in Book 1 of the large 1883 music manuscript of County Leitrim fiddler and uilleann piper biography:Stephen Grier, where it was entered as an untitled reel (No. 8). Curiously, another untitled reel a little further in Grier's Book 1 (No. 16) shares the same first strain, but the second strain is different (see "Reel (132)"). Bill Black applied the title "Lady from Baltimore" for the tune, but the title is spurious and confusing. "Lady South's Reel" is also cognate, according to Brendan Breathnach, but Fr. John Quinn suspects the title may be an error or misprint for "Lady Louth's Reel."
