BARREL RAFFERTY'S REEL. AKA - "McDermott's Reel (1)." AKA and see "Master McDermott's Reel." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Carlin): AABB' (Harker/Rafferty). The tune is similar to "Master McDermott's," composed or adapted by Michael McDermott in 1943, but also self-credited to Sean Maguire and Liam Donnelly. The title "Barrel Rafferty's" refers to the nickname of the flute-playing father of East Galway/New York flute player Mike Rafferty, whose lung capacity would fill a barrel.
