BEDFORD HOUSE. English, Country Dance Tune or Jig (6/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Beford House [1], London, was originally built at the end of the 16th century for the third Earl of Bedford. It remained the London home of the Russell family, Earls of Bedford until the death of the fifth Earl and first Duke in 1700, at which time it passed with the rest of the Covent Garden estate to the Duke's grandson, Wriothesley. He, however, preferred to live in his mother's house in Bloomsbury, and Bedford House was demolished some five years later.
