BELL CHASE. English, Country Dance Tune? Air? (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Bell Chase" was entered in the mid-19th century music manuscript of William Winter (1774-1861), a shoemaker and violin player who lived in West Bagborough in Somerset, southwest England. The title may have originally been "Belle Chasse" or "Bellechasse", but it is not the triple time "Belle Chasse (La)" in the Thompson's collection (London).
