BELLE CANADIENNE [2], LA. French-Canadian, Reel (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Researcher Jean Duval found the same tune in Boucher's 1927 unpublished precursor music manuscript collection under the title "L’escalier" (The Staircase), although in the published 1933 collection the name was changed to "La Belle Canadienne." Duval notes that the piece is related to the Soucy family's "Reel de Ti-Zoune", recorded in 1954 (Bluebird 55-5541). Accordion player Philippe Bruneau recorded a tune with the same first strain, which appears as "Galope" in Carmel Bégin's 1983 issue of Bruneau's music.
