BIG BEAR. Canadian, Reel. E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). "Big Bear" was composed by Métis fidler John Arcand, born in 1942 near the Debden-Big River region of northwestern Saskatchewan. The title references the 19th century Cree leader who refused to sign Treaty 6 in 1876, and who was unfairly implicated in the 1885 North-West Rebellion.
