Sheet Music for "Billy Fat’s Dance"Billy Fat’s DanceStraight JigBook: Elias Howe – Musician’s Omnibus Nos. 6 & 7 (Boston, 1880-1882, p. 644) Transcription: AK/Fiddler’s Companion

BILLY FAT'S DANCE. American, Straight Jig (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title could refer to any performer, as yet unknown. There was a 'Billy Fat' character in the play Farmer's Son, staged at the Walnut Theater, Philadelphia, in 1837, although the accidentals and the syncopation of the melody suggest it was composed in the 1870's or 1880's.
