BLACKTHORN STICK [2] (An Bata Droigean). Irish, Set Dance (6/8 time). D Mixolydian (Roche): G Mixolydian (O'Neill). Standard tuning (fiddle). One part, of fifteen measures. The tune is structured similarly to O'Neill's set dance "Funny Tailor (The)." A fragment of the tune (the first strain plus a few measures) was entered into the mid-19th century Sliabh Luachra music manuscript in the possession of D. Curtin of Stagmount, Rockchapel, County Cork (No. 93, p. 43 [1]).
