BLUE GOOSE [1], THE. AKA - "Grey Goose," "Susan's Gone." American, Reel (cut time). USA, northeastern Kentucky. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune is a variant of the better-known "Barlow Knife (1)" (see note for "Annotation:Barlow Knife (1)"). Mark Wilson also notes that the tune was called "Boatin'/Boating Up Sandy (7)" in the Portsmouth, Ohio, region (although that name has been used for several tunes). See also Glen Lyn, Virginia, fiddler Henry Reed's "Cabin Creek (1)," another tune in the "Barlow Knife" family.
