BOATMAN TUNE, THE. American, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "The Boatman Tune" is from the repertoire of North Carolina piedmont fiddler Lauchlin Shaw [1] (1912-1999) of Harnett County. Although Shaw played the tune as a reel, it may have derived from a schottische.
