BONNY BANKS OF UGIE, THE. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The strathspey "Bonny Banks of Ugie" was composed by fiddler-composer, dancing master and postmaster biography:William Christie (1778-1849). The River Ugie empties into the North Sea at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, north of Cruden Bay. It has two branches, the North Ugie and South Ugie, that drain central Aberdeenshire and join to form the River Ugie Northeast of Longside.
