BOYS OF THE TOWN [2], THE. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The second part is similar in parts to "Boys of the Town (1) (The)." Karen Tweed (1994) remarks the tune is a "firm favourite" at sessions in Leeds, England, in the early 1990's. Researchers Fr. John Quinn and Conor Ward find "Boys of the Town (2) (The)" to be a member of a tune family cognate primarily in the first strain, with more variation in the second strains (a common occurrence). Other tunes they have identified as related include "Boys of the West (1)," "Humors of Glynn (3)," "Jig (77)," "Six Mile Bridge (2)" and "Trip to the Ferry."
