BRID HARPER'S [1]. AKA and see "Grant Lamb's Reel." Canadian, Irish; Reel. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. The tune was composed by Manitoba fiddler biography:Grant Lamb and was played at a session in Ottawa, Canada, by young fiddler Denis Lanctot in the mid-1980's. Irish fiddler Brid Harper, on a Comhaltas tour, was in attendance at the time and picked it up from Lanctot's fiddling, although she did not get the name of the tune. It was disseminated in Irish music circles through her playing and videos, with the name "Brid Harper's" attached in lieu of another title. See also "Brid Harper's (4)"/"Sam Cormier Reel" for another tune picked up in the session by Harper, also sans title but later revealed to be composed by Lanctot.
