BRIDGE OF BUCKET, THE. Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (or ADae, a la Allie Bennett) (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Alexander Walker (1819-1898), born in Rhynie, Scotland. He was employed as a gardener for Sir Charles Forbes at Castle Newe, Aberdeenshire, who became his patron. At about age 50 he emigrated to Northhampton, Massachusetts, where he continued to compose (the output of which is lost) and to run a prosperous farm.

The Bridge of Bucket is a hamlet in Glenbucket parish, Aberdeenshire, about a half-mile from Glenbucket Castle, the once the seat of the Gordons of Glenbucket. The waters of the River Bucket flow into the Don, and the Bridge of Bucket (now spelled Buchet) is approximately two miles from Castle Newe.
