One of the better-known compositions by Abraham Macintosh (b. 1769), the strathspey appears in his Thirty New Strathspey Reels Etc. (Edinburgh, c. 1792). Abraham was the son of the renowned violinist and composer Robert 'Red Rob' Mackintosh. The original bridge was built between 1500 and 1527, repaired often, and mostly replaced in 1840-41.
