BROWN'S HORNPIPE [3]. Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The hornpipe appears as "Brown's Hornpipe" in the music manuscript collections of the Gunn Family, mid-19th century, County Fermanagh, and in the c. 1885 music manuscript collection of fiddler Francis Reynolds, of Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford. Researcher Conor Ward also finds the tune in Brendan Breathnach's Ceol Rince na hÉirreann, vol. 4 (No. 224) as an untitled hornpipe obtained from Book 3 of the c. 1883 music manuscript collection of biography:Stephen Grier, of County Leitrim. Ward also notes the "Brown's Hornpipe" entered as No. 2 in the hornpipe section of the c. 1909 music manuscript collection in the possession of Oriel region curate and fiddler biography:Rev. Luke Donnellan is a version of "Brown's Hornpipe [3]", with parts reversed.
