CARPENTER'S MORRIS. AKA and see "Wallom Green." English, "Old" or Triple Hornpipe (3/2 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The melody appears in London publisher John Walsh’s third collection of Lancashire tunes (Third Book of the Most Celebrated Jiggs, Lancashire Hornpipes, Scotch and Highland Lilts, Northern Frisks, Morris's and Cheshire Rounds) published around the year 1731. There are two other melodies in that particular Walsh volume with 'morris' in their title, "Running Morris (The)" and "New Wild Morris." He also printed "Welsh Morris (The)" in his third volume of country dances (1735, p. 103). The melody "Carpenter's Morris" was much older than Walsh's publication, however, and was first printed in the first supplement to Henry Playford's Dancing Master, 7th edition (1687) under the title "Wallom Green."
