Sheet Music for "Cassano Jig"Cassano JigCassinoJigBook: Elias Howe – Musician’s Omnibus Nos. 6 & 7 (Boston, 1880-1882, p. 604) Transcription: AK/Fiddler’s Companion

CASSANO JIG. AKA and see "Cacina," "Cassino." English, American; Jig and March (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Under the title "The Cassano" the melody was printed by Thomas Cahusac inNew and Complete Instructions for the Oboe or Hoboy, c. 1790 (p. 21), however, Boston publisher Elias Howe probably had the tune for his Musician's Omnibus Nos. 6 & 7 (1880-1882) from a New England source, Norris and Sawyer's The Village Fifer (Exeter, N.H., 1808). In the latter, the tune title is simply "Casano" without an article. English versions under the "Cassino" title predate American sources, dating to the latter 19th century.
