CLARIONET HORNPIPE [2]. English, Hornpipe (cut time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle) AABB. Manchester, England, musician biography:John Roose, in whose large c. 1850 music manuscript collection "Clarionet Hornpipe [2]" was entered, credits the composition to William Abbot. The first two bars of the first strain are quite similar to Michael Higgins' "Van Buren's Hornpipe" AKA "Oriental Hornpipe" although the rest of the tune differs.
