Sheet Music for "Colonel Glenn"Colonel GlennAndy Conroy

COLONEL GLENN. Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "John Glenn" was composed by uilleann piper Andy Conroy, and named in honor of astronaut and U.S. senator wikipedia:John_Glenn of Ohio. Conroy (1911-1999) was originally from Lough Glynn, Co. Roscommon, but lived in Dublin, London, and, for 22 years in the mid-20th century, in New York City. He returned to Ireland after he retired. Conroy was a student of Leo Rowsome and others, but he was particularly taken with the difficult tight Connacht style of piping espoused by Patsy Tuohey. Conroy played in New York with the great mid-century Irish musicians -- Andy McGann, Paddy Reynolds, Louie Quinn, Paddy Sweeney, Paddy Killoran, Lad O'Beirne.
