COTILLION [27]. AKA and see "Scotsman." English, Cotillion (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCBC. This untitled dance tune is contained in the mid19th century music copybook of flute player William Killey, of Jurby, Isle of Man (No. 36).  Killey researcher Ian Radcliffe finds a tune entitled "Scotsman" in the 1823 ms. collection of Shropshire musician William Hughes (No. 157) is cognate with Killey's "Cotillion." The first strains are nearly identical, while the second strain melodies are more distanced yet still clearly related.
