COUNTESS OF LAUDERDALE'S REEL, THE. Scottish, English; Reel (cut time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Eleanor Todd (c. 1762-1856), a wealthy only child, heiress and daughter of Anthony Todd, Postmaster General of England, was known for her kindness and beauty. She married James Maitland, 8th Earl of Lauderdale, in 1782, and bore him nine children.
