DANSE DU BARBIER, LA. AKA – "Danse du sauvage." French-Canadian, Jig (3/2 time). G Major. Standard tuning. AA'B. The tune (the 'barber's dance' or 'Indian dance') is known throughout Québec and is thought to trace back to old French tunes from the 17th and 18th centuries. It accompanies a comic pantomime dance (featuring a barber or Indian) about a hunt that is popular in French Canada and Franco-American New England, note Hart & Sandell (2001).
