Edinburgh fiddler-composer and bandleader biography:Robert Mackintosh (c. 1745-1808) composed "The Diamond Reel" and published it in his first collection of 1783. Later he printed the reel in his Fourth Collection of New Strathspey Reels] (c. 1804) renamed as "Miss Steel of Norwich's Reel. Fiddler-composer biography:J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927) adapted this reel as a hornpipe, and says: "The crossbowing is very effective in hornpipes."
