DISMISSAL, THE. Canadian, Reel. Canada; Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB' (MacQuarrie): AA'BB'. The reel was composed by Foot Cape, Cape Breton, musician Sandy MacLean, and appeared in Duncan MacQuarrie’s Cape Breton Collection (1940), from which it was picked up by PEI fiddlers as well. Peter Corfield says it was also adopted by Acadian musicians on the eastern coast of New Brunswick as well.
