DR. MANSON. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. "Dr. Manson (Banff)" was composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer Wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner (1843-1927) and appears in his Miller o' Hirn Collection (1881). Dr. Manson is listed as one of the Patrons of the collection. Manson celebrated the jubilee year of his medical practice in Banff in 1884, and a dinner was held in his honor by the medical professionals of Aberdeenshire and neighboring counties. His wife must have had a keen interest in nature, as she is recorded in 1880 as having donatedspecimens to the Banff Museum: a face crab, two spider crabs, a sun star fish, and a piebald mouse.
