DONOP, THE. AKA - "Lady Mary Murray's Fantaisie." English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The Donop was a regiment of German Jäger troops during the American War of Independence, particularly skilled at skirmishing and sharpshooting. In service with the British army, they were equipped with rifles instead of muskets (slower to load but far more accurate), and had straw-colored uniforms.
