The tune is contained in vol. 2 (p. 157)[1] of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper wikipedia:James_Goodman_(musicologist). According to Goodman researchers Hugh and Lisa Shields, Goodman obtained the tune from a manuscripts provided to him by Dublin bookseller John O'Daly[2]. Elias Howe's "Drunken Ganger's (The)" is a version of the tune, with the parts reversed.
