DURHAM MARCH. Scottish, March (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The march was first published in Scottish cellist-composer James Oswald's Fifty-Five Marches for Militia (c. 1759). It was a popular martial tune during the American War of Independence and appears in several period musicians' manuscript collections. It was also published in fife tutors and collections of martial music into the early 19th century.
