DUSTING SIEVE, THE. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by fiddler-composer biography:James Porteous (1762-1847) of Annandale, Dumfries. The melody appears in the 1840 music manuscript collection of multi-instrumentalist John Rook of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria, and also in the 1838 music manuscript collection of William Irwin, Lake District, Cumbria (as "James Porteus' Dusting Sieve").
